My senior citizen mom says the stairwell was a surprisingly comfy place to sit while no one got her a chair for Fanny's birthday party. The tours are nice, but they have no ability to organize events. My family and I had RSVP'd for the Fanny Chamberlain event. The staff were disorganized, rude to us, unclear on the logistics when we showed up, had run out of seating, didn't communicate with each other, and didn't accommodate anyone in the group with disabilities that prevented them from standing for an undetermined amount of time. Some of us couldn't attend an event we had already paid and dropped of food for as a result. We won't be back.
Great tour... we really liked the setup. We had read the book Killer Angels and got to know Joshua Chamberlain well.
This is a must-see for any history fan; especially fans of the Civil War. The home contains many artifacts belonging to the Chamberlain family and the tour is extremely informative. They also provide information for more Chamberlain related sites in the area.
Highly recommend.
I received a great tour! The guide was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Easy access, comfortable setting, nice tour - about an hour in his Brunswick home, and interesting of you like Civil War history...
